Much of the reserve consists of unspoiled areas that attract around three million tourists from all over the world each year. The park is famous, among others, for its redwoods (giant mammoths). The most famous redwood tree in Yosemite is called the Grizzly Giant. The tree is 65 meters tall and is estimated to be 2700 years old. The diameter of the Grizzly Giant is 9 meters. Although the size of redwoods is not as large as in the nearby Redwood National Park, they make a big impression on visitors. The tallest and oldest redwoods in Yosemite National Park, however, are in Mariposa Grove, a ‘grove’ located about 60 km south of the Yosemite Valley.
